Dr. Irene Awuor Owuor

Irene is an educator, a mentor and a humanitarian. She is self-driven, pro-active and diligent lady of integrity and confident personality. She is a very adaptable and reliable team player with passion for capacity development, knowledge-sharing, humanitarian work and social development. Irene is a lecturer at Kenyatta University, Kenya. She has previously worked in various capacities for Non-profit/NGO sector for 7 years before joining academia in 2013. She is a fluent speaker of English and Swahili.

Her professional areas of interest include: Leadership for Community Development, Community Resource Management, Public Health, Social Protection, Social Development, Social Impact Assessment, Humanitarian Support, Child Protection and Girl-child education. Irene holds a Doctorate Degree in Community Resource Management from Kenyatta University, a Masters Degree in Development Studies from International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University in The Netherlands, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Leadership for Community Development from Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) in Arusha, Tanzania and a Bachelors Degree in Home science & Technology from Maseno University, Kenya.

 Irene is a life member of Kenya Red Cross Society due to her passion for service to humanity and believes that “all humans have potential which is unlocked with a positive attitude”.
