Dorcas Namwaya is a lobby and advocacy specialist with over 8 years professional experience in implementing SRHR programs in Africa, child protection and safe guarding, project planning and management, stakeholders engagement at the community and national level, gender mainstreaming, lobby and advocacy, governance and accountability, monitoring and evaluation, budgets, mainstreaming Learning in Programmes, CEFM, FGM/C, CSEC, CT, donor relations among others.
Dorcas joined Evidence Frontiers in 2019. She is passionate about gender and development issues. She worked with Coalition of Violence against women (COVAW) as the Programme Associate (Gender, Lobby and Advocacy) on a project being implemented in Kwale on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and Child Traffic (CT). She also worked for Africa Rural and Urban Development Consortium (ARUDCO) as the Regional Programme Coordinator (Gender and Policy) supporting health programmes (MNCH, HIV and SRHR) targeting young women in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda. Before the aforementioned organisations, she worked with Regional Development Company as the Project Officer (Gender) implementing HIV and SRHR programmes.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and peace and armed conflict studies from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Project Planning and Management at the University of Nairobi, Dorcas hopes to see that laws and policies in development accord women and girls their rightful place in the mainstream agenda and that their rights are secured and respected as they pursue their potential as equal citizens.
